On DallasA guide · fact-checked November 2026
Between seasons of the Fast saga, Jordana Brewster spent three years on a primetime soap, playing the woman two Ewing heirs could not stop fighting over.
The revival
Dallas on TNT was a revival of the 1978 CBS series, following the Ewings, an oil and cattle dynasty, two decades on. It ran from June 2012 to September 2014 and centered on cousins Christopher and John Ross Ewing.
Elena Ramos
Brewster plays Elena Ramos, the daughter of the Ewing family cook and a childhood friend of both Christopher and John Ross. The show gives her a master's degree in energy resources and a family of her own, with mother Carmen and brother Drew woven into the oil-business plots.
The triangle
Her storyline turns on the fact that both Ewing men are in love with her, a love triangle that runs through the series and keeps Elena at the center of the family's feuds rather than at its edges.
How it ended
TNT cancelled Dallas in October 2014 after three seasons, citing declining ratings and the death of Larry Hagman, the original series' J.R. Ewing. For Brewster it was a rare sustained run as a primetime-drama lead, covered more broadly in her television guide.
