Where to Start

A newcomer's guide · fact-checked August 2026

New to Jordana Brewster, or want to go past the Fast films? Here are five performances to start with, why each one matters, and an order that makes sense.

1. The Fast and the Furious (2001)

Watch it for: the role that started it all. This is where Mia Toretto — and Brewster's stardom — begins. Lean, street-level, and character-driven before the saga went global, it is the natural front door.

2. Fast Five (2011)

Watch it for: the franchise at its peak, and the film where Mia stops being the love interest and becomes part of the crew. If the first film hooks you, jump here.

3. The Faculty (1998)

Watch it for: pre-fame Brewster in a cult sci-fi/horror hit. It is the start of a genre streak that runs through her whole career — more in the horror guide.

4. American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson (2016)

Watch it for: her most respected dramatic work. As Denise Brown in Ryan Murphy's Emmy-winning series, she shows range the blockbusters rarely ask for.

5. Lethal Weapon (2016–2018)

Watch it for: an easy, bingeable TV lead. Three seasons as police psychologist Dr. Maureen Cahill show what she does week to week.

Then keep going

Once you are in, the cult comedy D.E.B.S. (2004) and the recent slasher Heart Eyes (2025) are the fun deep cuts. Everything is in the filmography.
